The first North American patent for an Air Curtain was issued in 1904 to Theophilus Van Kemmel. However, the first recorded installation was not made until some 12 years later.

Air Curtains then became increasingly popular in Europe throughout the late 1940's and 1950's.

In 1956 Miniveil brought the most advanced European Air Curtain technology to North America and formed Miniveil Ltd.

The first Miniveil Air Curtains were sold in Canada in 1958 for use on cold storage doorways.

Since then Miniveil has developed and designed Air Curtain systems for every conceivable need.
